How We Help Children and Families

Every child is different, so I don’t follow a script. I bring together play, creativity, mindfulness and calming techniques to help your child understand their feelings and find their confidence again – in your own home or online, with you involved every step of the way.

Grab a cuppa, and let’s talk about what your child needs.

Who Positive Pants supports

Wellbeing support works best when everyone is involved. That’s why I work with children, the grown-ups who care for them, and the schools and workplaces around them.

Children

I work with primary school age children who are feeling anxious, angry, low in confidence or just not themselves, using play and creativity to help them make sense of big feelings.

Many of your team are parents too. My workplace sessions give them simple, practical tools to support their children at home, so they bring less worry to work.

What We Help With

If your child is struggling, it affects the whole family. Maybe mornings have become a battle, bedtime brings worries, or your child just doesn’t seem like themselves. Whatever is going on, you don’t have to figure it out on your own. These are some of the things I help families with most.

Anxious Child

Worries that won’t go away, tummy aches before school or trouble sleeping. I help your child understand their anxiety and learn calming tools they can use whenever they need them.

Angry Child

Big outbursts are often big feelings with nowhere to go. I help your child recognise what’s happening in their body and find safer ways to let it out.

School Refusal

When getting to school has become a daily struggle, I work with your child and your family to understand what’s behind it and rebuild their confidence, one small step at a time.

Self-Esteem

For children who say “I can’t” or think they’re not good enough. Together we build self-belief through play and small wins that help them feel proud of who they are.

Separation & Divorce

Family change can leave children feeling confused, sad or caught in the middle. I give them a safe space to share how they feel and tools to help them adjust.

Neurodivergent Children

Support that works with your child, not against them. I adapt every session around their needs, including children with ADHD and autism, and help the whole family find more calm at home.

How We Help

Not every child can sit and talk about how they feel. Most children show us through what they do, not what they say. That’s why my sessions use play, creativity and calming techniques, so your child can explore their feelings in a way that feels natural, safe and often fun.

Play Therapy

Play is how children make sense of the world. I use play-based techniques, games and stories to help your child express feelings they can’t yet put into words.

Mindfulness

Simple, child-friendly mindfulness activities that help your child notice their thoughts and feelings, and manage big emotions before they take over.

Meditation

Calming breathing and gentle meditation techniques your child can use anywhere – before school, at bedtime, or whenever worries start to build.

Art Therapy

Drawing, making and creating give children another way to share what’s going on inside. I use art-based techniques to help your child express and explore big feelings.

Ways We Work

Every family and child is different, so there’s more than one way to work with me. I can come to you at home, meet you online when that fits better around family life, or you can work through my online course at your own pace. Whichever you choose, you’ll get the same gentle, play-based approach and practical tools the whole family can use.

1-1 In Person

I come to you, into your family home, where your child already feels safe and settled. We work through play, creative activities and calming techniques, and you’ll come away with practical tools to keep using between sessions.

Online Course

A self-paced programme of short weekly videos and activities you can work through together at home, whenever it suits you. A gentle place to start, at a pace that’s right for your family.

Client Stories

Meet some of the families I’ve helped

Don’t just take my word for it. These are real families from across Nottinghamshire, sharing what life looked like before we started, how we worked together, and what changed for their child. Every story is different, but you might recognise a little of your own family in theirs.

Meet Claire

The face behind Positive Pants

I’m Claire, and I launched Positive Pants back in April 2018 after a lightbulb moment! I was wondering how I could make the idea of a positive mindset more accessible to children of primary school age. Then it hit me! Positive Pants!

It’s a well-known phrase to children and adults alike, and works as a tangible way to engage children with what could feel like a tricky concept. When you know how, having a positive mindset can be as easy as putting on your ‘Positive Pants’.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wondering how it all works? Here are some of the questions parents ask me about my approach. If yours isn’t here, just get in touch – I’m always happy to help.

Sessions are gentle and led by what works for your child. We use play, creative activities and calming techniques rather than sitting and talking, so it rarely feels like therapy to them.

I’m led by your child. Some children love to draw, others open up through games or stories, and some respond best to calming breathing. I blend play, creativity, mindfulness and meditation around what works for them, so you don’t need to choose an approach before we start.

Not at all. It’s never about the finished picture. Drawing and making simply give your child another way to show how they feel, without having to find the right words.

I work with primary school age children, and everything is kept short, playful and age-appropriate. Think breathing games and calming activities rather than sitting still in silence.

Yes, and that’s the idea. You’ll come away with practical tools and activities you can keep using between sessions, so the whole family can build them into everyday life.

Yes. I work with the whole family, not just your child. You’ll learn alongside them and come away with tools you can use at home every day – that’s what makes the changes last.
